Hello there! Call me MADS!!

Multimedia artist & Pretty boy extraordinaire

Because everyone changes with time, I've updated my 'about' page (12-7-25) I am a multimedia artist, teacher, furry, history nerd, and personal website haver! I believe in carving your own community and having complete control over who you can be online. DIY or DIE!

All images, gifs, graphics, videos, music, writing, etc on my site are made WITHOUT the use of AI (to my knowledge). I do not use artificial intelligence in my visual and written work. Like many artists, I believe in the importance of the the human hand and mind. I try to make every artistic choice intentional, and I believe using AI to assist with the creative process cheapens what makes creativity special in the first place. Quoting Vince Gilligan, "AI is the world's most expensive and energy-intensive plagiarism machine". This is my own opinion of course, I'm not telling you what to do. As it gets more and more difficult to tell what is and isn't AI, and as companies use artist's work, without consent, to train these models, it is more important than ever to retain MY artistic integrity.

Most artwork on my site is made by me or credited to the respective artist via a link or description. For things like gifs, blinkies, buttons, etc, I try to link back to the respective creator if they want credit. Many 'old internet' style graphics are taken from places like Gifcities.org. I also have a lot of video game sprites and graphics, many of which I have edited or animated. Some of my website uses Sadgrl's code with modifications. Gallery layout from werewolf girlfriend. If you see something you've made on my site, and for whatever reason, it is not credited, please send me an email so I can correct that!

What is ?

IN QUICK SUMMARY Atomic Gothic is a webcomic I started in 2020 exploring my interest in Cold War era nuclear testing and implementation. I am by no means a 'legitimate' historian, but as a resident of the uranium scarred Southwest I am compelled to visit such historical landmarks (Los Alamos, Titan II missile silos, etc etc) for "research" purposes. I am captivated and terrified of the history of Atomic America, and I wish my silly comic can be both educational and entertaining for you! Atomic Gothic has consistent themes relating to LGBT+ found family, societal expectations, failure, and navigating trauma. I have many other inspirations, that I will list here:

-Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
-New Wave music (Oingo Boingo) and all flavors of electronic music
-Metal Gear Solid
-Dr Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
-The A-Team
-The Earthbound/Mother series
-"Outsider" art, including websites like this one.

Some communities/places I enjoy exploring IRL and online:
-LGBTQ+ especially trans spaces (duh!)
-Seeing foregin films and animations at the indie theater
-Local DIY and Zine spaces
-Queer run shows, gallery openings, performances!
-Furry meet ups and cons!
-Museums/historic places
-Raves, specifically hardcore/happy hardcore/breakcore/etc
-Video game journalism of a particular variety
-Original character communities like Artfight!

Here is a video I made in early 2020 before Atomic Gothic was a webcomic! Dan, Victor, and Marc's character designs vary slightly here.

Did you know that the Beatles were a failed government cloning experiment and when they escaped area 52 the government was like "well oops" and let them kinda do their own thing.
